It's been long time since the days of hiking Mt. Hood's famous summer halfpipe. After spending years and years trudging up and down this giant glacier, Shaun is back this week for a bit of summertime snowboarding.Welcome back!
Trading in the skateboard for the snowboard, Shaun is back on hill up at Hood for something everyone call, "The best week of summer!" If you are unfamiliar with Mt. Hood and the summertime shredding that she offers, here is a bit of education.
Mt. Hood is home to probably the greatest things on earth. Year round snowboarding, camping, skateboarding, hotdogs and friends. Located about 45 miles outside of Portland's downtown, Mt. Hood looms in the distance, a reminder of America's more rugged days. The volcanic peak that juts harshly into the blue and white skies of Oregon, literally casts a shadow over much of the valley below it.
Oregon is one of those, Last Best places, where things are slower, life is simpler and fun is always on the horizon. Here are summer snowboard camp, kids of every shape, size, color and skill level are on the glacier shredding until their legs give out. And once you have had your fill on the mountain, the sleepy little town of Government Camp plays host to incredible fun! Think Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory but with snowboarding. It's that amazing.
This week alone Shaun White is in town, along with Red Bull teammates Heikki Sorsa, Pat Moore, even a few Grenerds like Danny Kass are sliding around town.

Man... I knew when I had to move from Portland in 1991 that I would be missing much greatness in the future.. Mark Spooner in Aloha had the most magnanimous wooden half pipe in the city for over ten years (1976-86 or so). I roller skated with quadskates on it. Obviously, I blew it by leaving. I miss Hood and now I missed Shaun too.... BAH!! Go, Shaun, Go!
ya i cook at the ice axe grill and mt hood brew pub. and i had shaun come in and i cooked for him and came out and talked to him and he autographed a menu from our resteraunt for me. it was really cool and he is a real nice guy
Shaun, I just wanted to say thank you for the menu that you signed for me while you were at the restaurant on Hood that my brother cooks at. He sent it to me a few days ago.
I'm so angry I missed you!!! I was working at a Woodward Camp in Wisconsin this summer instead of Windells! I think that's hilarious you posted the Boring sign, though. I laugh whenever I see signs to Boring. Where do you live? I live in Boring, Oregon. No, what city? Boring. No, really. BORING!!!!!!

hey shaun. u probly dont remember me, but i was at the skatepark when u came into Tigard OR on thursday. that was amazing when u were trying heel flip indy over the Dino. come back and skate that park again if ur ever in oregon!

So it was him! Walked right by him in the parking lot at Timberline last Saturday and thought, that guy looks alot like Shaun.
