It's been long time since the days of hiking Mt. Hood's famous summer halfpipe. After spending years and years trudging up and down this giant glacier, Shaun is back this week for a bit of summertime snowboarding.Welcome back!
Trading in the skateboard for the snowboard, Shaun is back on hill up at Hood for something everyone call, "The best week of summer!" If you are unfamiliar with Mt. Hood and the summertime shredding that she offers, here is a bit of education.
Mt. Hood is home to probably the greatest things on earth. Year round snowboarding, camping, skateboarding, hotdogs and friends. Located about 45 miles outside of Portland's downtown, Mt. Hood looms in the distance, a reminder of America's more rugged days. The volcanic peak that juts harshly into the blue and white skies of Oregon, literally casts a shadow over much of the valley below it.
Oregon is one of those, Last Best places, where things are slower, life is simpler and fun is always on the horizon. Here are summer snowboard camp, kids of every shape, size, color and skill level are on the glacier shredding until their legs give out. And once you have had your fill on the mountain, the sleepy little town of Government Camp plays host to incredible fun! Think Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory but with snowboarding. It's that amazing.
This week alone Shaun White is in town, along with Red Bull teammates Heikki Sorsa, Pat Moore, even a few Grenerds like Danny Kass are sliding around town.
