The hill was packed. The "industry" made the trek up from their various SoCal headquarters, and even riders who wouldn't normally be caught dead at a comp turned up to watch. With the crowd in full attendance, the riders were excited to get the competition rolling.

Not one to waste any time, with the sun shining and the crisp Sierra wind at bay, on Saturday Shaun stomped his first run, accenting it with a series of double corks, and locking in a 47-point ride for the effort.

"The riding's getting heavy," says Shaun. "Guys I didn't even think about as competition before the start of the season are stepping up. Guys like Louie, who were tired of taking a back seat. He's pushing it. We'd all love for wins to come easy, but nothing this season is going to be easy."

Go for it Shaun! We'll see you in Vancouver. You're the only reason I'm going to watch!

The U.S Olympic snowboard team was not announced the 23 because Kevin Pearce and Danny Davis who were both going to be on the team were recently injured so 2 of the 4 riders(Danny and Kevin) were dropped, creating a later U.S snowboard team release date because more riders need to qualify.

you made it no doubt

Hello. I thought the Olympic team was being announced the 23rd? Sorry if I'm wrong, but since the last competition finals are tonight, I thought the team was being announced after that. Once again, sorry if I'm wrong. I had just read on a US Snowboarding Association article that it was supposed to be the 23rd (tonight.). Thanks for your time.

good luck shaun i already see gold. Your the greatest ever!
