As the snow melts and the concrete jungle of LA beckons, Shaun's back on the skateboard, "pushing around town." Here's what he's been up to:
What kind of board are you riding these days?
I'm riding my pro model with Birdhouse. For skating vert, I like to ride an 8" board. It helps for when I don't get my feet perfect for landings. For messing around in LA or cruising parks I rock a 7.75" deck.
When did you get back on the board?
I started riding right after the US Open. I came back so tired from the Olympics, post tour, and Open, all I wanted to do was rest and skate. I moved up to LA, so I just started pushing around town to get my legs warm. Now I'm skating a lot of park and a little bit of vert. I haven't gotten into vert full scale because I'm still warming up.
What are you working towards?
There isn't any goal as of yet, I'm just having fun skating and being off the snow. My first contest this year is going to be the Dew Tour's first stop, but that isn't till June. Until then, I'm just focusing on skating a ton of park and vert.
Are you going to build a secret mega ramp somewhere?
No real plans as of yet. I don't have a ton of tricks that I want to push on my skateboard like I did last winter with snowboarding. I think I would feel pretty guilty building a huge ramp for one trick, although it would be super fun. First things first, I just need to get on my board again and start to feel more confident and comfortable.
Do you have any fun skate trips planned? If so, where?
All I want to do this summer is travel and skate. I was thinking of heading up to Oregon, maybe Vancouver, and definitely Europe for some skating. There are a ton of really fun parks in Oregon to skate and the camping up there is awesome. I just want to get out in the wild and have some adventures.
I heard you launched your own shoe line with Target?
How was it like working on that?
The new shoe line is great. Jesse and I worked together to develop shoes that you can skate, but are also affordable. The end goal was six shoes that I am really proud of. I have been skating them for just under a month and I am stoked on how they feel.

Hey Shaun, sorry to hear about your ankle injury. I was hoping you would be skating in Boston this weekend for the Dew Tour event. I'll look for you in the broadcast booth instead. BTW, I think L.A. put some bad voodoo on you and you should come back to Carlsbad. Just my opinion. Take care of that ankle.

Hey Shaun I hope to see you skate at the Summer X Games...I don't see your name on the Athlete list. I will be attending for the first time at summer x this year, all the way from Texas so hope to see you there...I went to the U.S. open, but I arrived the day you were suppose to compete..only to find out that you had dropped out...bummer....I enjoyed the rest of the riders but I went to see you, but I had no success!
