As the sun set on another Summer X Games, Shaun White was blasting huge into the California sunset, stomping trick after trick!

In a new format for Skateboard Vert this year, the field was down to the top five after an initial qualifying jam session and Shaun was on top of his game! Boosting huge airs and stomping his runs in the qualifying, Shaun found himself in the top spot for the finals.

Once the finals got under way, the 20 minute jam session was on and the crowd was going wild. Shaun was focused on stomping his new trick, which had never been done before! Just the other day, Shaun named it! Anyway, as he dropped into his third run of the final he blasted out The Armadillo and the crowd went wild! The Armadillo, which is a frontside 540 body varial heelflip, was the crowd pleaser for the night!

Shaun found himself in third place at the end of the night, but put his mark on the history books with The Armadillo!

7H8D7527.jpgWith all the wildness that goes on around Summer X, lots of questions get asked, but here are just a few questions that Shaun was able to get to before dropping in for the Bronze medal! Keep the questions coming and Shaun will make sure that he answers as many as he can. Until the next time, enjoy these 10 Questions with Shaun!

Maybe there is just something about the rock and roll vibe that got Shaun going, but whatever it was, Cleveland just got rocked!

Coming into his first stop on the AST Tour for 2008, Shaun was fresh off a solid second place finish in California at the Maloof Cup and was looking to do just one better at the Cleveland stop.

With a few solid days of practice under his belt, (he skipped the EPSY's to practice), Shaun was all business when the contest got started. Tossing out huge spins, back to back 540 variations and a few 7's as well as the signature amplitude that he is known for, Shaun took home a huge victory.

Cleveland's win is a key victory for Shaun as the next contest is Summer X Games, coming up July 31-Aug. 3.

Shaun was on fire on both Saturday and Sunday as he quickly got his runs dialed in this his first skate event of the year. The contest was a unique one, set in the Orange County Fair, the crowd was hot and sweaty and greasier than a jumbo, footlong on a stick! But who doesn't love a footlong on a stick!

Blazing hot sun made for some interesting eye candy all around as everyone was burned to a crisp by the end of the day, but for every bad sun burn there was an even better tan!

As Shaun went into qualifying on Saturday and finals on Sunday, everyone could see the determination in his eyes. New tricks on the horizon combined with unique ramp with hipped out extensions allowed for some truly unique runs.

One of the crowd pleasers of the finals was Shaun's back to back fives in from the ramp to the drop-in and then from the hip to the extension, the second one with a varial flip in it as well! Whoa, that is tough just writing, imaging doing it!

As the finals ticked away, the jam format, got well, jammed. People were dropping and snaking and trying to drop. It was mayhem and not in a good way. But everyone made it out unscathed and when the dust settled, Shaun was out in 2nd place and a damn good start to the skate season!

HoustonShaun popped in for a little bit of that fabled Texas hospitality and a heck of a skate session as he helped cut the ribbon on arguably one of the best parks in the country. The Lee and Joe Jamail Skatepark opened up to the public on Sunday with standing room only crowds and a session the likes of which Texas has never seen.

Covering over 30,000 square feet, the privately funded park took nearly three years to build and over $2 million. The concrete monster is here just in time to usher in the summertime skate crowds and kids with the urge to surge! With the Red Bull Scenic Cruiser his mobile pad for the afternoon and a haven from the heat, Shaun was ready to ride all day!

Although the trip was a fast one for Shaun, he was back in California working on his sweet tan lines by noon the next day, Texas proved to be one of the best stops of his summer so far.

Was anyone out at the Lee and Jamail Skatepark opening? If so, post up your stories as a comment!

This trip has sparked an amazing collection of fun facts about Texas, more importantly about Texas' favorite Ranger-Chuck Norris! Kicking off a new series of Shaun White.com stories, we will be providing Walker Wisdom at the end of every story! Here is your gem for the day! God Bless you Chuck Norris!

If you have five dollars and Chuck Norris has five dollars, Chuck Norris has more money than you.

From here Shaun is back in California for a few days of serious skate action. After all, Summer X is right around the corner!

From Red Bull:The 2007 AST Tour wrapped up in Orlando over the weekend, with Shaun White, Ryan Sheckler, and Daniel Dhers each walking away with coveted year-end titles. White and Sheckler had already sealed up the Skate Vert and Skate Park titles before the final round even took place, and Dhers took an authoritative win in Orlando in BMX Park to pick up his second AST title in a row.

All three athletes dominated their prelim rounds, much like they'd done throughout the tour. Shaun White could have taken it easy in Orlando, putting it on cruise control and taking year-end bragging rights no matter what place he ended up in, but he was there to win.

The finals didn't go exactly as he had planned, however. White had a great first run, posting up his usual high airs and spin tricks, some over the new chasm that was built into this stop's vert ramp. He was sitting in second behind Pierre-Luc Gagnon after round one, and he knew exactly what he had to do to get back into the first-place spot.

Unfortunately, he wiped out on a warm-up pass before his second run, falling back and taking a hard hit to the dome - hard enough to break his helmet. He was forced to sit out his next two runs, and was still recovering when the year-end awards ceremony went down later that night.

He may have missed out on accepting his award in front of the cameras, but no one will forget the performances he turned in on tour this year. White earned five podium finishes (three of them wins) and busted out some of the most electrifying vert runs of the year. He's a true champion, and left no doubt that he deserved the Skate Vert crown.

This might come as a surprise but Shaun White is the new 2007 AST Tour CHAMPION! Even though in SLC, Shaun was bumped down to third despite a huge run including big fs 7's way out, that third place was enough to seal up the tour title for him!

No doubt Shaun will go for the podium topper in Orlando, FL in October but it is always nice to know that the pressure is off and this one, really is just for the fans and the fun!

Here is a wrap up of Shaun's 07 AST Tour:

  • Baltimore: 1st
  • Cincinnati: 1st
  • Portland: 1st
  • Salt Lake City: 3rd
