SW_skatevert_podium_960.jpgWinning's never easy, especially when you gotta do it on a vert ramp against Pierre-Luc Gagnon and Bucky Lasek and Andy McDonald, but with a run to remember, Shaun took the top spot on the podium today at the Dew Tour in Portland.

After coming unstuck on his first two runs in the final, Shaun was able to put together something special for the good folks of The City of Roses. "I knew I had to do a heavy-heavy combination and I nailed it," was Shaun's explanation.

As for the specifics, the winning combo goes a little something like this: frontside fakie 540, to fakie 540 cab, to 720, to armadillo, or for all you laypeople, a frontside heelflip body varial 540.

It was Shaun's first Dew Tour appearance since '08, which may have helped fuel the fire. "I wanted to show that I've got it down," he surmised. Consider this mission accomplished.

SW_Video_Game.jpgMuch awaited, much anticipated, and a hell of a lot of fun. Here's the latest trailer to Transformation, Shaun's newest video game creation.

Shaun_X_Games_Pre.jpgWith Shaun's name entered into both the Vert and Best Trick categories at this year's X Games, he's finally making his return to the ramp official. X Games hits LA from July 29 through August 1, and Shaun's eager to get rolling. Coming off of a serious ankle tweak that left him sidelined for the better part of two months, he's amped to drop into the Staples Center and see where four wheels will take him. Both the Vert competition and Best Trick go off on Friday, July 30. More to come soon from the man as he gets on the board and the beast that is X Games takes off.

SW_Skate_Game_Update.jpgHere the trailer for Shaun's new game. Some pretty amazing features built into it. The game drops this fall. Still can't talk about the details, but enjoy the trailer for now...

As the snow melts and the concrete jungle of LA beckons, Shaun's back on the skateboard, "pushing around town." Here's what he's been up to:

What kind of board are you riding these days?

I'm riding my pro model with Birdhouse. For skating vert, I like to ride an 8" board. It helps for when I don't get my feet perfect for landings. For messing around in LA or cruising parks I rock a 7.75" deck.

When did you get back on the board?
I started riding right after the US Open. I came back so tired from the Olympics, post tour, and Open, all I wanted to do was rest and skate. I moved up to LA, so I just started pushing around town to get my legs warm. Now I'm skating a lot of park and a little bit of vert. I haven't gotten into vert full scale because I'm still warming up.

What are you working towards?

There isn't any goal as of yet, I'm just having fun skating and being off the snow. My first contest this year is going to be the Dew Tour's first stop, but that isn't till June. Until then, I'm just focusing on skating a ton of park and vert.

Are you going to build a secret mega ramp somewhere?

No real plans as of yet. I don't have a ton of tricks that I want to push on my skateboard like I did last winter with snowboarding. I think I would feel pretty guilty building a huge ramp for one trick, although it would be super fun. First things first, I just need to get on my board again and start to feel more confident and comfortable.

As the sun set on another Summer X Games, Shaun White was blasting huge into the California sunset, stomping trick after trick!

In a new format for Skateboard Vert this year, the field was down to the top five after an initial qualifying jam session and Shaun was on top of his game! Boosting huge airs and stomping his runs in the qualifying, Shaun found himself in the top spot for the finals.

Once the finals got under way, the 20 minute jam session was on and the crowd was going wild. Shaun was focused on stomping his new trick, which had never been done before! Just the other day, Shaun named it! Anyway, as he dropped into his third run of the final he blasted out The Armadillo and the crowd went wild! The Armadillo, which is a frontside 540 body varial heelflip, was the crowd pleaser for the night!

Shaun found himself in third place at the end of the night, but put his mark on the history books with The Armadillo!

Keep the questions coming and Shaun will make sure that he answers as many as he can. Until the next time, enjoy these 10 Questions with Shaun!

Check out the video of Shaun from Cleveland!

Maybe there is just something about the rock and roll vibe that got Shaun going, but whatever it was, Cleveland just got rocked!

Coming into his first stop on the AST Tour for 2008, Shaun was fresh off a solid second place finish in California at the Maloof Cup and was looking to do just one better at the Cleveland stop.

With a few solid days of practice under his belt, (he skipped the EPSY's to practice), Shaun was all business when the contest got started. Tossing out huge spins, back to back 540 variations and a few 7's as well as the signature amplitude that he is known for, Shaun took home a huge victory.

Cleveland's win is a key victory for Shaun as the next contest is Summer X Games, coming up July 31-Aug. 3.

Shaun was on fire on both Saturday and Sunday as he quickly got his runs dialed in this his first skate event of the year. The contest was a unique one, set in the Orange County Fair, the crowd was hot and sweaty and greasier than a jumbo, footlong on a stick! But who doesn't love a footlong on a stick!

Blazing hot sun made for some interesting eye candy all around as everyone was burned to a crisp by the end of the day, but for every bad sun burn there was an even better tan!

As Shaun went into qualifying on Saturday and finals on Sunday, everyone could see the determination in his eyes. New tricks on the horizon combined with unique ramp with hipped out extensions allowed for some truly unique runs.

One of the crowd pleasers of the finals was Shaun's back to back fives in from the ramp to the drop-in and then from the hip to the extension, the second one with a varial flip in it as well! Whoa, that is tough just writing, imaging doing it!

As the finals ticked away, the jam format, got well, jammed. People were dropping and snaking and trying to drop. It was mayhem and not in a good way. But everyone made it out unscathed and when the dust settled, Shaun was out in 2nd place and a damn good start to the skate season!

Where is Shaun Next?:
